Exercise Referral

The Exercise (Health) Referral scheme in Leicestershire & Rutland is designed to aid individuals who have been identified by their GP or other health professional to take up the benefits of participation in enjoyable exercise.

People referred to the scheme will receive a 12 week activity programme designed for their needs delivered by highly qualified instructors. You can be referred for many different reasons, such as:

  • High cholesterol
  • Obesity
  • Hypertension
  • Controlled diabetes
  • Depression or anxiety
  • Mild to moderate rheumatoid arthritis/osteopersis
  • Contolled respiratory disease
  • Back pain

Some of the activities people can be referred to are:

  • Gentle exercise and circuits sessions in the community
  • Chair based exercise sessions
  • Walking groups

Patients can be referred on to the Exercise Referral scheme by their GP or a health professional, such as a Physiotherapist.
