Getting help and equipment

For an assessment to help you, and for information or help with getting equipment such as flashing door alerts contact our Services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People.  You will be offered a face-to-face conversation using clear speech, British Sign Language (BSL) or Sign Supported English and a referral to the Assistive Technology team.

You can live more easily and independently at home by getting:

Help in the community

You can visit the Action Deafness drop-in service for help with:

  • writing letters or emails
  • English and British Sign Language (BSL) translation
  • interpreted telephone calls
  • information, advice and guidance

Drop-in service opening times and addresses

  • Mondays and Tuesdays, 10am to 1pm at the Peepul Centre, Orchardson Avenue, Leicester LE4 6DP
  • Wednesdays, 10am to 1pm at The Firs, 689 Aylestone Road, Leicester LE2 8TG

You can buy helpful products such as telephones, room loops and other equipment from Action Deafness using direct payments from your local council.
